The Linear A script, an ancient writing system used by the Mycenaean Greeks, has long fascinated scholars. Our project aims to decipher this script, revealing insights into a civilisation that thrived over 3,000 years ago. By combining linguistics, archaeology, and computer science, we strive to decode the symbols and interpret their meanings.
This interdisciplinary approach promises to uncover the social, economic, and political aspects of the Mycenaean world. Join us in this exciting journey to bring the voices of ancient Greeks back to life and deepen our understanding of human history.
The Linear A and Linear B scripts are ancient writing systems from Minoan and Mycenaean civilizations. While Linear B has been deciphered, Linear A remains a mystery. Understanding these scripts is crucial for unlocking ancient history and culture. This project leverages AI to address the challenges in deciphering Linear A.
The project starts with compiling and preprocessing datasets of Linear A and Linear B inscriptions. Appropriate AI models, such as machine learning and neural networks, will be selected for pattern recognition and language translation. These models will be trained using Linear B data. The preprocessed data and models are the basis for our decipherment efforts.
Trained on Linear B, the AI model will be applied to Linear A inscriptions to generate translations. Results will be cross-referenced with known historical and linguistic data for accuracy. This ensures AI-generated translations are historically and linguistically consistent. The aim is to decode significant portions of Linear A.
The accuracy of AI-generated translations will be evaluated with expert collaboration. This iterative refinement ensures the credibility of the translations. Experts in ancient languages and archaeology will provide feedback. The goal is to produce reliable interpretations of Linear A inscriptions.
